Troubleshooting Approach
Follow a systematic approach:
- Observe: What exactly is the symptom?
- Recent Changes: What changed before the problem started?
- Simple First: Check the simplest possible causes first
- Document: Record what you find and what you try
- Know Limits: Know when to call for professional help
Booth Won't Start
Check these items in order:
- Power: Is main power on? Check breakers.
- Emergency Stop: Is E-stop released?
- Doors: Are all doors closed and latched?
- Safety Interlocks: Are all safety conditions met?
- Control Power: Is control transformer energized?
- Timer/PLC: Check for error codes or fault lights
No Heat or Slow Heat
Check these items:
- Gas Supply: Is gas valve open? Is pressure adequate?
- Pilot/Ignition: Does pilot light? Does main burner ignite?
- Safety Switches: Check high limit, airflow switch, flame safeguard
- Thermostat: Is setpoint correct? Is sensor working?
- Airflow: Is there adequate airflow for burner operation?
Airflow Issues
For low or no airflow:
- Filters: Check filter condition and pressure drop
- Belts: Inspect fan belts for wear and tension
- Motors: Verify motors are running and not overheating
- Dampers: Check damper positions
- Makeup Air: Verify makeup air is operating
Safety Considerations
Important safety reminders:
- Always follow lockout/tagout procedures
- Don't bypass safety interlocks
- Leave gas and high-voltage electrical to professionals
- Document everything for compliance records

Check the Obvious
Most problems have simple causes. Before assuming a major failure, check filters, belts, breakers, and settings. We've seen many "emergencies" that were just tripped breakers or clogged filters.
